Summer 2021: Fieldwork for ALBATROS at the Uapishka Station

Station Uapishka is located at the foot of the Uapishka Mountains of northern Quebec, on the shores of the Manicouagan reservoir. The station resides in the traditional territory of ᓂᑕᔅᓯᓇᓐ (Nitassinan, meaning "Our Land"), which is the ancestral land of the Innu First Nation. The station, pictured on the left below, is about a five hour drive north from the nearest city, Baie Comeau. Our success at this remote location would not have been possible if not for the warm welcome and help we recieved from the folks up there; tshinashkumitinan! (Thank you!)

See below a gallery of some of the fieldwork we did at Uapishka, as well as some shots of the beautiful nature we were lucky enough to experience! Click on the pictures to see a small description of each.
